Happy Friday! If I am being honest, I didn’t even realize that last Friday was the last Friday of April. Then again, it can’t be just me haha. I feel like everyone has been questioning what the date is or what day of the week it is while in quarantine at least once the past few months. With that, it’s better late than never! So today (a week late haha) I am bringing you my top 5 Friday favorites for April! Let’s jump into them!
1. Coffee + Sunrises
Since we have been social-distancing for the past month and a half or so, I haven’t been able to see my friend Grace in weeks! However, now that the weather has been getting nicer, we thought it would be a good idea to start meeting up at a nearby park and sit in our cars to catch up. Lately, we’ve been waking up right before sunrise and driving (in separate cars) to catch the sunrise over the water with our coffee and to spend the early mornings together. So far, it’s been so nice! And honestly, I think this is something we might continue to do even after the quarantine is lifted!
2. Apple cider vinegar gummies
The health and wellness benefits of apple cider vinegar are endless! In fact, evidence suggests that it may offer health benefits, such as aiding weight loss, reducing cholesterol, lowering blood sugar levels, and improving the symptoms of diabetes. (source). However, if you’ve ever taken a shot of apple cider vinegar to aid in weight loss or to simply boost your wellness game, then you know how difficult it can be to get yourself to actually drink it haha. We all know that it doesn’t taste the greatest, which sometimes demotivates us to drink it every day.
Therefore, this is why I decided to give these Goil apple cider vinegar gummies a try! I was shocked to see that they taste wayyy better than I imagined they would! Plus, they’ve made a huge difference in my digestion and issues with bloating! Not to mention, apple cider vinegar also helps to boost your immunity and control your appetite! It took about a week for me to see the difference, but I am so happy with the results! I definitely recommend adding these to your morning vitamin routine!
3. Vital proteins collagen
Unfortunately, one thing I noticed this month was how much dairy and gluten have been messing with my stomach and digestion. At the beginning of the month, I decided to cut out dairy first to see if any of my symptoms would decrease, and thankfully they did. However, I was still dealing with discomfort and symptoms of malabsorption, so, I decided I chose to cut out gluten as well. It was definitely hard at first, but, I have been feeling SOOO much better! Even in just a matter of a few days!
With that, I sadly had to cut out a lot of my protein powders since they contain whey, which is a protein found in milk. I also had to replace my go-to protein shakes and several protein bars with a different (non-dairy) form of protein. This is why I have been adding collagen protein to a lot more of my meals. Such as smoothies, oatmeal, my morning coffee, and I even mix it into avocado when I make my avocado toast! You can honestly add collagen to so many things – which helps me to still hit my daily protein goals! If you aren’t familiar with collagen or the benefits of collagen, definitely check out this post, where I go into great detail about the powerful health and wellness benefits of collagen!
4. Gluten-free + dairy-free banana bread recipe
Speaking of having to go gluten-free and dairy-free recently, I have been making this banana bread recipe at least once a week all month! It is hands down the best banana bread recipe that I have ever tried and you would never suspect that it’s gluten and dairy-free, which is amazing! With that, definitely go give this banana bread recipe a try! Especially if you’re stuck inside and looking for a delicious, healthy recipe to whip up!
5. Evening workouts
I am so happy because this month, Marlin has decided to workout with me a lot more! However, he’s not the biggest fan of my go-to morning workouts, so we’ve been working out in the evening instead. And honestly, I am surprised at how much I actually enjoy working out in the evening. I’ve been able to sleep in a lot more than I normally would, and it’s been nice to get the difficult tasks (work, school, etc.) out of the way before de-stressing and exercising together at the end of the day. In case you didn’t see my post from last week, I put together my current favorite at-home gym/workout equipment that Marlin and I have been using for every workout. Definitely go check out that post in case you need any ideas!
I hope you enjoyed April’s 5 Friday favorites post!
