While stress is an unavoidable part of life, we may be feeling its effects a bit more heavily with all of the unexpected changes impacting our world, work, and our home. Not to mention, our friends and family. It’s true we can’t stop stress from showing up, but, we can control how we respond to it by creating daily routines and habits to minimize its impact on our mental health & physical health and maintain wellness in the midst of stressful seasons and uncertain times. With that, for today’s post, I decided to touch on 4 simple self-care practices that promote wellness and relieve stress! And I hope they can help you as well, my friend, through this stressful season of our lives.
1. Drinking herbal teas
Did you know that herbal teas help our bodies to adapt and respond in times of stress?! Caffeine, chemicals, and stress can all contribute to lower hydration levels (and higher cortisol levels – the stress hormone) in our skin and body. This is why sipping herbal teas (such as Tulsi, Schisandra Berry, or Ashwagandha) daily helps to build durability & resilience within our own bodies. Not to mention, they help protect our overall health and strengthen our capacity to handle stress! Additionally, herbal teas offer the added benefit of a glowing complexion! Up your self-care game with a hot cup of herbal tea each night, along with my next tip 😋…
2. Taking Epsom salt baths
When you sprinkle some Epsom salts and essential oils into your tub, you’re providing your body with essential minerals and healing benefits. These benefits include detoxifying your body, alleviating tension, soothing your mind, and boosting your immune system! Therefore, take time each week (or each day haha!) for this simple, but effective, self-care practice to experience its powerful benefits to relax and reduce stress in your body, mind, and spirit.
Additionally, I love to light a non-toxic, natural candle, close the door, turn off the lights, and enjoy this time for myself! It makes for the perfect end to a long, work-filled day!

3. Stretching after waking up
I’ve been incorporating a lot more stretching into my morning routine! Not only to relieve my sore muscles from working out each day but to also reap the many benefits that stretching includes. For example, stretching reduces tension throughout the whole body, increases blood flow, stimulates the lymphatic system (which also improves our immunity!) & optimizes the flow of blood, oxygen, and vital nutrients!
I encourage you to make stretching a morning habit, my friend! Perhaps, as you roll out of bed in the morning or as your brewing your coffee, take 5-10 minutes to move your body and stretch your way to a healthier, happier, more grounded self!
4. Spending time in nature
A change of scenery is always helpful for changing our overall mindset about whatever is troubling us. For example, enjoying a walk at your local park, watching the waves at the beach, or gazing at the stars are all wonderful ways to be in contact with nature that can help us to put our problems into perspective. Plus, taking that time to be present in that moment will relieve stress and anxiety as well. Sometimes, all we need is to simply step away and gain a fresh perspective in a new setting to allow ourselves to relax and appreciate the beauty and positive things in the world.
I hope you enjoyed today’s short and sweet post, my friend!
