5 Healthy Ways To Begin Your Day

Happy Friday, my friend! I apologize that I haven’t posted in a while. Life has been very insane these past couple of months and it has felt as if time is slipping away from me every week. Nonetheless, I am back with 5 healthy ways to begin your day – because we could all use a fresh start once in a while! And what better way than revamping your morning routine?!

 

 

5 Healthy Ways To Begin Your Day

 

 

 

1. Nourish your body

 

I’m telling you, your tastebuds do not want to miss out on this smoothie recipe I am currently loving! I’ve been making this exact smoothie every single morning and drinking it for breakfast at work. It keeps me full for hours and my energy levels high to deal with middle schoolers, haha! It literally tastes like a never-ending Caribean vacation! You have to try it!

Smoothie recipe: 

1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk

1 scoop of vanilla protein (the best tasting vegan vanilla protein I’ve tried!)

80 grams of diced pineapple

45 grams of strawberries

45 grams of banana

Splash of orange juice

Side note: use ice if the fruit is not frozen!

 

2. Start slow 

 

I know how busy life can be, trust me! However, the things that are usually taken out first during a busy season are the things you need the most. Don’t throw out stillness, movement, quiet time, and inner/outer nourishment for your body and soul. When I take time in the morning to read and meditate it completely transforms my day because it completely transforms me. Take time each morning to do something that will transform your busy day for the better and energize/revitalize your mind, body, and your soul!

 

3. Show love 

 

This tip is for my work-from-home people since I was working from home all summer and wish I would’ve stuck to this! I’m the kind of person who is good with sweat pants and sweaty hair after a workout, just being honest, haha. So I know how tempting it can be to just stay in your pajamas or workout attire all day while you’re working. However, I decided to make it a habit around the middle of summer to take the time to really get ready for the day.

Now I know there is absolutely nothing wrong with sweat pants and sweaty hair (okay maybe sweaty hair lol) but seriously I can’t tell you how quick and easy it is for me to do my makeup routine that takes 10 minutes, hair takes about 10 minutes (natural or in a braid), and outfit takes maybe 2 minutes. That’s only 22 minutes out of my morning routine dedicated to taking to time to allow myself to feel good and out together. I’ll be honest, even though I don’t work from home and have to commute to work, I still do this 22-minute routine most mornings because it is efficient and easy to do! Nonetheless, when I was working from home over the summer, I realized that I was much more productive throughout the rest of the day after adding this little step to my routine.

But whatever it is for you – a favorite shirt, a quick makeup routine, or maybe just taking the extra few seconds to throw your favorite smoothing serum that smells like heaven on your hair – do it! You deserve it and notice how it makes you feel!

 

4. Support 

 

I always make it a priority every morning to take my daily supplements. It may seem like a small step, but let me tell you, my friend, it makes a BIG impact on your health and wellness. My current staples are:

  1. Chlorophyll 
  2. Probiotic 
  3. Zinc supplement 
  4. Multivitamin 

Be sure to take care of yourself! Set aside a quick 2 minutes each morning to take your vitamins, 15 minutes to go for a walk, 10 minutes to meditate, etc. don’t neglect it because those little things make a big difference!

 

5. Try adding some fruits or veggies to your breakfast

 

Y’all know how great Oprah is! Well, she claims, “the most colorful plates are the healthiest plates!” And that couldn’t be more true! Therefore, I always try to be mindful when making breakfast and finding creative ways to start my day with a fruit or veggie added in. Not to mention, I find that adding fruits and vegetables to my first meal of the day tends to fill me up more and give me more energy throughout the day. Along with making me feel better and healthier overall!

With that, as you saw above, I have been loving my daily smoothies! However, to change it up, I also love eating apples + almond butter or even adding cauliflower to my oatmeal. Don’t knock it ’till you try it! There are so many tasty combinations, you just have to be willing to get creative! 😉
