Happy Friday everyone! 🧡I wanted to do a post today sharing some of my favorite things from this past month of October. This is my second 5 Friday favorites post, which I do at the end of every month. So, if you haven’t already, definitely go check out my favorites from September in this post right here! I think these types of posts are so fun to read, and I love to see other people’s current favorites! So, with that, let’s dive into my 5 Friday favorites for October!
1. Morning walks
Morning walks have definitely become my new favorite thing this fall! I love seeing that all of the houses in my neighborhood are decorated for Halloween and the beautiful multicolored leaves. Not to mention, it’s so calm in the morning and the weather is perfect for walking with my dogs and a cup a coffee. Honestly, it has become the best and most relaxing activity to begin my day all of October! And my dogs have been loving it too! 😉
2. Home-gym equipment
It was the end of August when I officially quit my job of 5 years as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. So, as of right now, I currently do not have a gym membership. However, I have been loving at-home workouts!! I love that I can now workout on my own schedule at home, morning or evening, instead of having to wake up every day at 4 am every day to teach my 5 am exercise classes.
Lately, I’ve been doing my workouts in my basement or my garage, and the chilly fall weather is making it 10x better. I also don’t follow a certain training schedule like I used to. Instead, I have been focusing more on HIIT (high-intensity interval training) and total body exercises! I love being able to change up my exercises on a whim and keep it fun and exciting.
So with that, I have been using my weighted jump rope and my weighted vest to add resistance to my exercises! The weighted vest allows me to do basic bodyweight exercises, like squats, pushups, or burpees, but with an added 10-20 pounds. Therefore, the weighted vest has become my favorite alternative to weights, dumbells, and kettlebells recently!
3. Fall & Halloween movies
This one is a given! And although I have been extremely busy this month and October feels like it has flown by, I still have been making it my goal to watch my favorite fall/Halloween movies! From everything to Hocus Pocus, the epitome of Halloween movies, to Stepmom, a beautiful and tear-jerking fall classic that stars Julia Roberts rocking some of the trendiest fall fashion of the ’90s! Below, I linked 6 of my all-time favorite fall and Halloween movies that you definitely need to add to your next movie night!
Favorite Halloween Movies:
“HOCUS POCUS”
“HALLOWEEN”
“SREAM”
Favorite Fall Inspired Movies:
“STEPMOM”
“THE CIDER HOUSE RULES”
“OCTOBER SKY”
4. “The Year of Cozy” Book
I have been loving this book “The Year of Cozy” by Adrianna Adarme so much lately! It’s honestly the cutest book that I have read in a while. Not to mention, it is filled with so many fun and delicious seasonal recipes, activities, and DIYs that will inspire you during any season! The author, Arianna, also adds in the cutest pictures of her adopted Corgi named Amelia!
She offers you numerous tips and craft ideas from fall picnics, to homemade donuts, to inspiring activities that will motivate you to get the most out of each season of every year. Adrianna definitely has a way of drawing you in and inspiring you to live every day of your life intentionally cozy! Plus, this book makes the cutest coffee table addition, that all of your friends can read and enjoy!
5. Fall scents
Fall scents are the best am I right?! I could fill my shopping cart at any Target, Homegoods, or Bath and Body Works, full of any pumpkin, cinnamon, or apple cider scented candles on any shopping occasion! However, if I had to choose a favorite fall scented candle, it would have to be either Leaves or Pumpkin Pecan Waffles at Bath and Body Works! Those two scents have been apart of my all-time fall favorites for years.
As for perfume, I have been using the same exact one as I did last fall. It is YSL’s Black Opium Perfume. It’s technically not a “fall-inspired” scent, however, it always reminds of fall for some reason, maybe since I bought it last fall and I’m still going through the bottle. This perfume is the perfect combination of vanilla, gourmet black coffee, and white florals! And with that, I receive countless compliments every single time I wear it! So it is definitely a perfume that you must try the next time you are in Ulta or Sephora!
P.S. The first time I tried it I bought the travel size and it has lasted me for over a year! I believe that it was only around $25 at Ulta! 🤗
I hope you enjoyed reading my top 5 favorites for October! 🧡🎃
