In previous posts, I’ve talked about how taking baths are one of my top favorite ways to indulge in self-care. However, I’ve never actually gone into the steps I take to create the perfect bath/ self-care spa night. If there’s one thing I love after a long, stressful day, it’s an even longer bath haha! Therefore, for today’s post, I decided to lay-out my top 5 steps to create the perfect bath for your next spa night and some of my current Amazon favorites (plus a few others!) to help make your bath/spa night 10x better! Let’s get into the post!
1. Fill up with Epsom salts, oils, and/or bombs!
Sitting in warm water feels amazing no matter what, but I personally love to either add Epsom salts, Vitamin E oil, or bath bombs. Or all three haha! Honestly, the options are endless when it comes to spicing up your bath experience. Vitamin E oil is good to drop in to help smooth and soften the skin! However, any light oil like jojoba, argan, rosehip, for example, works great as well.
Epsom salt is incredible because it can help relieve aches and pains, soothe skin irritation, and even help calm down a sunburn. Perfect for these warmer months coming up! Along with that, Epsom salts also often comes in scented varieties that can make your bath smell good too! Lastly, you can never go wrong with a good bath bomb—especially one that contains ingredients that not only make the bath a little prettier but actually make your skin feel better too! Along with this, you could even add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the water as well!
These are some of my all-time favorites for bath bombs and Epsom salts that I love to add into my tub!
2. Dim the lights & add some candles
While the tub is filling up, use this time to turn your bathroom into the perfect self-care haven! With that, candles create the perfect ambiance, plus they make the bathroom a luxurious and cozy spot. Along with that, the bright light in the bathroom probably won’t do you any good when you’re trying to wind down and relax.
Personally, I love using small candles in here because then you don’t have to worry about them tipping over into the tub lol. However, if you have a bigger surface area, go ahead and use your favorite! A few scents and brands that I love, especially for a cozy, spa night at home include:
3. Choose your background noise
Although silence is sometimes relaxing, it can be hard to achieve that if you live with other people or relax better with calming music in the background. If you are looking for relaxing/calming music, Spotify has a great Spa Music station or numerous instrumental music playlists! Or you could even turn on a meditation app like Headspace or Calm.
Even if you don’t choose to meditate the entire time, the calming practice always helps to quiet my mind. Plus, a little peaceful background noise while I close my eyes or read a book creates the perfect spa night setting!
4. Treat your skin
One of my favorite things to do right before I step into the bath is put my hair in a top knot and put on my go-to face mask. The warm water really helps to open your pores, making it the ideal time for your skin to soak in nutrients. My current favorite has been the Primally Pure Soothing Mask!
5. Unplug from all technology
Last, but certainly not least, make sure you unplug from all technology. Including your computer and your phone! However, if you need to keep either your phone or laptop in the bathroom for your music or calming background noise, be sure to turn the phone on Airplane Mode or leave it on your counter so you’re not tempted to look at it.
To keep the chill vibes going, leave your phone like this until you wake up the next day. Your alarm for the next morning will still work even when you’re phone is on airplane mode! I just realized that recently haha!

Extra Tip!
When taking a bath, it’s easy to get dehydrated! Therefore, grab yourself your favorite beverage to sip on while you relax in the tub! It doesn’t have to be alcoholic, but putting your drink in a wine glass makes it feel fancy. So even if it’s your favorite LaCroix flavor, that works! I do that way too often haha!
I hope you enjoyed today’s post, my friend!
What are some things you include to create the perfect bath or self-care setting?
I would love to hear some of your tips/suggestions!
