How To Improve Your Week + How I Reset To Stay Productive

how to improve your week

Sharing is caring!

Do you have a specific day of the week that you get everything done? For me, my day of the week to get my sh*t together is definitely Sunday! This is the day where I list everything out and get everything organized for the upcoming week. So for today’s post, I thought I would share what I do to improve my week ahead each Sunday and the routine that resets my week to create a more productive, stress-free, focused, and healthy week.

Without dedicating each Sunday to this routine, I literally feel like my life would be a disorganized mess haha. However, you can definitely supplement any day of the week to do this, I just feel like Sunday works the best for me! But choose whatever day works best for you and your schedule. Some people love resetting their week in the middle of the week, at the end of the week, or on the weekend. So whatever day works best for you, try dedicating that day to improve the upcoming days ahead and sticking to a schedule that inspires productivity and health! I hope this post inspires you!

how to improve your week

For starters, there are 3 categories I like to split my Sunday into:

  1. Cleaning + Organizing
  2. Planning
  3. Self-Care

1. Cleaning + Organizing

Cleaning:

Each Sunday, I love to begin my day by straightening up my house and bedroom. Personally I feel like if my space is messy my mind feels messy. Therefore, I find it almost relaxing and therapeutic to clean in the mornings. With this, Sunday’s are the days where I like to do more of a deep clean around my house. For example, I chose to deep clean my bathroom on this day, I make sure all of my dishes are done, I clean out the fridge (especially because our garbage day is on Monday morning), and I wash my bedding. Of course, during the week I tidy up my space (vacuum, wipe down countertops, laundry, etc.) but Sundays are my day to deep clean!

To me, I feel like dedicating each Sunday to deep clean really sets the tone for the upcoming week. Plus, it allows me to begin my week feeling more light, fresh, organized, productive, and focused.

With that, I like to dedicate about 3 hours of my morning to this. Therefore, my morning routine on Sunday’s usually look like this once I start cleaning:

7 am: Wake up

7:15: Yoga or take a walk  (Sundays are typically my “active rest” days so I don’t usually workout.)

7:45: Skincare routine & shower

8 am: Make coffee and eat breakfast

8:30: Start on my Sunday schedule with cleaning. End around 11 am.

Organizing:

Next, I take an hour during this section of my day to prep/plan out my meals for the week and create my grocery list. Since I do my grocery shopping on Monday mornings, I like to take time to sit down and write out a menu for the week and the foods that I need to get at the grocery store. If you are interested in seeing what is usually on my grocery list, definitely check out this post!

Along with this, I also recommend meal prepping to help save time throughout the week. I love doing this for days that I work or days I know I’ll be super busy. For example, I like to cook my protein in bulk, such as chicken or ground turkey to have for several days of the week. This way I don’t have to cook every single day. Additionally, I meal prep easy, grab-and-go lunches like my overnight oats! Making each meal at home can be time-consuming throughout the week, therefore, I think that meal-prepping (even if it’s just something simple) can really save you time and energy during the week.

2. Planning

After I’m done cleaning, I like to sit down and take time to plan out the tasks that I want to accomplish by the end of the week. This usually consists of my assignments for school, my workouts for each day of the week, blog work that I want to get done, responding to emails, plans with my friends, etc. This is the time I usually write out my to-do list for Monday as well. Personally, I don’t like to create a to-do list for each day of the week since plans might change or things may come up. However, I do write out everything I plan to do for Monday and I create my to-do lists day by day after that.

I also grab my planner and write out any bigger goals that I want to tackle on specific days. Or, if I have any scheduled events coming up like lunch with a friend or an appointment, I tend to write those in my planner first, that way I can work my day around that event. This allows me to create a base and solid foundation for my week and help me stay focused and organized on the things I have to get done.

3. Self-Care

The last section that I take time to focus on each Sunday evening is self-care! This differs each week, but usually what I tend to focus on is my skincare routine and setting aside a large section of time to relax and unwind. This is your time to chill out, practice mindfulness, to get some clarity, or to simply do whatever makes you happy!

I prefer to take this time to extend my normal skincare routine and put on a facemask. Plus, if I have extra time I love to do a hair mask as well since I typically do a face mask and hair mask once a week. Along with this, if I feel like self-tanning a particular week then I will set aside time Sunday evening to do so. However, now that it’s summer, I haven’t been self-tanning as much as I normally would since I spend more time outside and tan naturally.

Some other things I love to do on Sundays are to take a detoxifying bath with Epson salt, journal, paint my nails, watch a movie, read…honestly anything that will make me feel calm, relaxed, and happy on that given Sunday. Basically, use this time to reward yourself after a long day of getting your sh*t together haha!

I hope you enjoyed today’s post on how to improve your week and how to reset your week for productive and simpler days ahead.
