Most likely the number one thing I have been loving about quarantine is the fact that I have an abundance of free time to workout now! Before when I was teaching, I would typically do my workouts after school. Even when I was exhausted and just wanted to curl up on the couch and watch a movie. That’s why I am so thankful that I can finally go back to my morning workouts! Or, even better, simply workout whenever I feel like it! Which has been a while! And what better time than now to start focusing on your workouts and prioritizing your health and wellness now that we’re stuck at home?! So today, I decided to compile some of my favorite at-home workout equipment into one post in hopes that you can benefit from these items as well!
These items have been a huge help in keeping me motivated to exercise and feel like I can accomplish quality workouts as a whole! So, let’s dive into them!
Exercise Bands // Airpods // Jump Rope // Weighted Vest // Pink Yoga Mat // Hydro Flask Water Bottle // Sliders //
Kettlebell // Aerobic Step // Bosu Ball
Exercise Bands – These bands are perfect for adding to body-weight or weighted hip thrusts, squats, or glute kickbacks! These resistant bands also assist you in different exercises and are suitable for a variety of exercises! Including; P90x, CrossFit, Yoga, Insanity, Pilates, Hot Yoga, and Beach Body workouts. I definitely recommend these exercise bands to help you lift + strengthen your booty and define your legs!
Apple Airpods – For listening to music in the garage during workouts!
Jump Rope – I use my jump rope every single day after my workout! Not only does it make me sweat and provide a great cardio finisher, but incorporating a jump rope into your workout routine will help to strengthen your core! I do about 1 minute to 3 minutes of jump rope at the end of my workout depending on the day!
Weighted Vest – A weighted vest was something I thought I didn’t need but just wanted. It turns out, I use it wayyy more than I ever thought I would! It is perfect for gradually adding weight to basic body-weight exercises to make them more challenging! Plus, I’ve used this weighted vest while running on my treadmill as well, and let me tell you, I sweat like crazy when I wear this thing! Definitely a purchase that I didn’t know I needed!
Yoga Mat – A yoga mat is definitely a must when working out from home! Especially if you actually are practicing yoga or doing a bunch of core workouts or movements that enable you to sit or lay on the ground!
Hydroflask Water Bottle – I love my hydro flask! It’s definitely worth the money since it keeps your water crisp and cold during your workout and hours after!
Sliders – There are sooo many exercises you can do with these disk sliders, and all of them work your glutes, legs, arms, and core really well. Plus, these disks are small, light, and compact, and slide perfectly on my carpet and hardwood floors!
Kettlebell – I love using a kettlebell for many of my exercises! Whether it’s for cardio (like kettlebell swings) or growing the glutes and focusing on inner thighs like sumo squats – kettlebells are one of the most versatile pieces of gym equipment that I own!
Aerobic Step – My aerobic step is my ride or die haha! I use this pretty much every day. Whether I’m doing H.I.I.T cardio or lifting, I always find a way to add in my step. It’s essential for adding plyometric movements to get the heart rate up, or for simply using it as a bench for weighted step-ups or dumbbell chest presses! It’s the perfect all-around piece of gym equipment!
Bosu Ball – I love my Bosu Ball! I use it mainly for core exercises like mountain climbers and tuck-ins! However, you can also use it for a lot of stability and cardio exercises.
I hope you find this post helpful during this stressful time that we’re all in! I know it can be difficult to find the motivation and time to workout, so just do what works best for YOU! Don’t feel like you have to go all-in at once! Especially if you’re not used to working out on a regular basis. There are TONS of intermediate to advanced workouts all over the internet. But personally, I find Youtube to be the best source!
What have been some of your go-to workouts?
I would love to hear if you have any tips or suggestions of your own in the comments! Let’s help everyone out by listing either your favorite at-home workout or favorite at-home piece of gym equipment!
